About Us

Maltby Street to Mayfair, the rational.

As young fresh faced twenty something’s just down from University, we found ourselves being defined no longer as students but as Londoners. An entirely ironic and frankly terrifying label as neither of us could tell you how to find Buckingham Palace let alone how to get from Matlby Street to Mayfair (our current abodes). This is a record of the adventures we have embarked upon so far in the quest of the knowledge required to become a true Londoner.

Lals

A twenty four year old history graduate who arrived in London from the Home Counties via a stint in Edinburgh. Having been an art scholar, put myself through university by working as a semi-professional chef and now work in the square mile, you can see my interests are eclectic to put it mildly.

On arriving in London I was incredibly lucky and spent my first 8½ months living with one of my best friends and her parents, in what we dubbed Kensington Mansions. This is where the “Mayfair” came from unfortunately it sounded better than the more accurate from “Maltby Street to Kensington”. I have now returned to earth with a bump and am living with two friends in Barons Court.

Alex

A twenty two year old trying to avoid using her engineering degree whilst on the Civil Service Fast Stream. I am only happy when I am very busy, preferably from a full social calendar rather than actual work, evident from the fact I barely slept although managed to rarely do any engineering during my three years “Studying” at Durham. I did however, sail, row, ski, reel, dance, play lacrosse, perform in pantomimes and fashion shows, organise college balls and events for the Unicef society, attend far too many college events and balls and go out more than was perhaps sensible.

I now am attempting to be a little bit more grown up, or at least appear so, now that I am living away from home and have a 'proper' job. Since I find myself living on Maltby Street in South East London, in arguably the best city in the world, I intend to see as much as possible, both on the tourist trail and off of it.
